Michael MacLennan is the Director of The Music Institute Dublin and an experienced pianist, composer, songwriter and music teacher offering piano lessons, songwriting lessons and music theory tuition in Dublin.

Michael graduated with an honours degree from the Royal College of Music, London, where he studied with renowned teacher John Byrne. As a professional pianist and songwriter, he has released three studio albums and performed extensively throughout Ireland and the UK. His work as a session musician has also seen him perform alongside established Irish artists including Lisa Hannigan, Declan O’Rourke, Gavin James, Wallis Bird, Mundy, Jerry Fish and Gavin Glass.

At The Music Institute in Rathmines, Dublin 6, Michael teaches students of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to advanced musicians. His one-to-one piano lessons are tailored to each student’s musical interests and goals, combining strong foundations in technique, harmony and music theory with an engaging and practical approach to learning.

Students can work towards recognised music examinations (ABRSM, RIAM etc) or focus on contemporary, classical, jazz, blues and popular piano. Michael also offers songwriting and music theory lessons, helping students develop their creativity, musicianship and understanding of how music works.
