Maria McGrann
Teacher at
Co Down soprano Maria McGrann is a graduate of Queen’s University School of Music Belfast with a Masters in Music. She continued her studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and completed the Recital Artist’s Diploma. Maria was then awarded on to the Northern Ireland Opera Young Artist’s Programme where she made her BBC Radio Ulster debut as soprano soloist of Vaughn Willams’ Serenade to Musicwith the Ulster Orchestra. She was an Associated Artist of the Boyne Music festival and completing her time in the programme, Maria entered the NI Opera Festival of Voice competition where she was delighted to be the recipient of the Audience Prize.
Maria has been invited to sing for TRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at Hillsborough Castle and more recently performed for HRH The Prince of Wales with the Ulster Orchestra during his visit to Belfast in 2018.
Maria’s operatic engagements have included Adele Die Fledermaus Northern Ireland Opera) Countess Ceprano Rigoletto (NI Opera), Madame Herz Der Shauspieldirektor (Irish National Opera,) Aurore Le Portrait de Manon (Wexford Opera Festival), MusettaLa Boheme (Opera in the Open), Zerlina Don Giovanni (Opera in the Open), Amongst others.
Maria has also performed in the chorus for numerous productions across Ireland, the most recent being The Second Violinist, Dennehy (INO), Madama Butterfly, Puccini (INO), Aida, Verdi (INO), Don Giovanni (NI Opera), La Boheme (OTC),Koanga and Les Pres aux clercs (WFO).
